Contraption
These are a few concept sketches for a painting series called “Contraption”. These strange machines create dreams and imagination. These machines exist within the border of unconsciousness. I think these wacky mechanical forms inspire my creative ideas.
Hara - sculpture
This is a sculpture that I am working on completing soon.
Years ago when I wanted to learn more about martial arts and the masters that followed “The Way”, I discovered that the essence lies within the Datian or Hara (Japanese name).
During some meditation sessions I tried to picture this inner life force that unifies mind body and spirit. I imagined a seed that sits three fingers below my navel. But as I looked more closely at this seed in my mind, it became a figure, a smaller yet more important part of my being that holds me together with or without the mastery of strict meditation practices.
The new look

The idea clouds filled the margins of my day planner and random pages of my sketchbooks throughout 2007. From CSS sites to endless online galleries, I combed over my sketches and used them to create the next version of edesigned.net.
As this year moves forward I will add a few more pages outlining the year’s projects from concept to process. I will focus more on fine art and illustration products and techniques. I also will dabble a bit in sculpture because I am finding it helps me develop better strategies for building better 2D compositions for web and print ads.
Because I feel like I have moved away from my roots in 2007, I am eager to return to the raw exploratory process of basic art and design. As 2008 begins, with my paintbrush in hand, I excited to re-awaken the complete artist within.
